ZzZzzZzzzs for sale

Shoes . . . dress . . . sleep . . .mmm let’s see.

A pair of shoes at 2,500 pesos is definitely forgivable and still within the bounds of my psychological-wallet-of-guilty-pursuits especially knowing that there is an upcoming wedding, debut, a big time event at work, a date or a reward for myself. Yeah I can go as far as 5,000 especially for the last one or second to the last one! haha, unless of course if the first event mentioned is my big day and I’m not just an attendee or just a member of the entourage, that’s a special case. But if I buy a pair of shoes at almost 2,500 without an immediate occasion for that matter, I don’t think St. F can forgive me for that.

If I buy a dress for 2,500 pesos out of the blue (which I realized I haven’t done yet) would be one of the splurges that will go unpunished despite of “myself “-who is haunted by the idea of knowing that there is an awful lot of things I can do with that amount for others – yeah I know…I am the kind of person who would be happy to see it more useful especially for my family, friends or other people more importantly because it has always been different being exposed to community development work at the grass roots level…but that’s another story, I don’t want to sound self-righteous.

At the moment though, my “out of the blue” forgivable expenditure was not ticking…perhaps because for the past days, my boss has been generously giving away some of her stuffs which by the way would relatively mean a 2,500 pesos is not exactly a huge amount for a dress or anything for that matter. Let’s not talk about prices and my boss in the same paragraph. Haha for the purpose of this blog, let’s just stick to the United Nations’ poverty line, from which I know 2,500 is not exactly below that line in terms of measuring the income per day, anyway moving on…I was saying, a dress? at 2,500? Out of the blue? Right now? Very tempting.

But wait, there is another line item…If I buy this at 2,500 pesos for 11 to 12 hours the most, considering all of the things we’ve been doing at work for the past couple of months I think it would be worth it.

You see, right after Maru and I had an out of the blue weekend get-away in Baguio last March, we didn’t feel the next months came. Aside of course from my solo escapes to watch X-men First Class, Forever and a day, Beastly, Mr. Poppins Penguins and the occasional stops with Maru at Shang or Mega or even Eastwood for Something Borrowed, Pirates of the Carribean and who could forget the April Fool’s Day “Catch me I’m in Love”, Transformers and yes even Tempatation Island!

Last night though was Harry Potter, the last of it all (another blog) after getting out of the Cinema 10, we decided to get something to eat or drink maybe at Starbucks or BOs, but after missing which way to turn for BOs, we decided to look for the “red version” of both– Seattle’s B.

It was already time to go and yet neither Maru nor I felt like standing up. When we finally had the strength, we moved towards the taxi cue. Maru did not like the taxi next in line so she suggested we walk until Richmonde area and wait for her cab there, at least it won’t be that far until my boarding house. So we started towards San Miguel Avenue, and while we were on our way, the joke on checking in at one of the hotels nearby came up again (We have always fancied checking-in some time at the hotels near our work area- Richmonde and Shangri La)…and just when we were in front of Richmonde Hotel already…poof! we approached the front desk and got a room! Haha

It’s 12 midnight and about 12 hours before check out time and yet I felt there was nothing more right than buying this 12 hours of sleep or rest at this very moment and not in my boarding house bed! haha Luckily for me, Maru was just thinking about the same! We took the deluxe room and yes we slept our night away for 6,000 pesos! Perfect.

And just like that…my wish to take a room in one of the hotels in our area just happened. Taking a room and not waking up only to worry the call time for participants in a seminar/training or a class session just like our stays in Astoria, Linden, Lancaster or even Boracay Garden, visiting Shangrila Boracay or even my latest stay at Bella Roca in Marinduque…last night at Richmonde was getting a room for the heck of it and yes it was sooo worth it. Check! Next in line…Shang?

Now sitting at McDonalds in Tycoon building, we are just waiting a bit until our next stop – Nuat Thai! Wow  12 hour-rest, massage and a day with a friend . . .it can only get better ;)
