"I am so in BORA..." those were my overused words in the island the whole time I was there savoring the rare opportunity of being able to co-manage the Local Governance and Development Program for the League of Vice Governors of the Philippines. This would be their 3rd run in a series of courses constituting a Diploma. And the icing to the cake only gets sweeter as the classes are also hosted in the different provinces in the country. This time, it's in Bora!
After two days of Local Development Planning Part 1 Sessions, MM, Ms. Imee, Sir Alvin, Ms. Julie and I were ready to give ourselves the break we deserve and there was nothing that can top the beach in my beloved Bohol hometown like this place, well I think the beach part is still Bohol for me though, it was more of the sand . . .oooo the soft feel of the seemingly stoneless sand. But I was not really up for the beach when I knew we were off to Bora, instead, I was actually looking forward to go up and away from the beach. Yes! my system was all set for sailing and not just sailing in the sea but sailing in the sky! yohoooooo Parasail! yeba yeba
I woke up at 5am feeling giddy already but since MM and Sir Alvin were still covered in their sheets I decided to roam around the area and check the sunrise, the shoreline stretch in the morning because I only got to feel it while we walked from Boracay Astoria where we had dinner up until our hotel in Boracay Gardens at the back of Regency Boracay where we had our class sessions.
I decided to go the opposite direction and found the Talipapa area where I bought pasalubongs for my office mates. After awhile, I got a text message from MM that they were already outside and we can just meet somewhere to look for our Parasailing man. Soon, we were already heading for the sea.
We stopped at a small docking site made of bamboo rafts and transferred to another boat...and then we were already in our life vests listening to some briefing on the adventure. MM and Ms. Imee went first and I took a video of their take off and landing while Sir Alvin took the pictures. Then, it was Sir Alvin, Ms. Julie and I's turn. I was in between I guess just to balance them both. haha an advantage for having a heavy weight sometimes. ooops next thing I knew, we were already moving up up and away from the boat! yohooooo 5 mins later, I was shouting and looking at the entire island with the feeling the cool breeze. It was a very exhilarating feeling...very liberating...very free...I felt so happy =).
Almost a year from my last job resignation and this is the first time that I actually felt literally and figuratively flying!
When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return...
